“Deer of the world” exhibition
The CIC, the Slovakian Hunters Association, the Slovakian Hunters Chamber and the Slovakian State Forestry kindly invite you to the exhibition “Deer of the World”.
The opening ceremony will be held on 16 October 2010 at 4 p.m. in Palárikovo, Slovakia in the CIC Museum.
This collection of different deer species from around the world has been collected over many years by Werner Trense, Honorary Secretary General of the CIC. Of the 61 stags in this exposition at least 10 belong to endangered species and one has disappeared entirely! The CIC would like with this exposition to remind zoologists and hunters, particularly in this UN International Year of Biodiversity, of their responsibility to actively participate in the conservation and care of the deer population in the world: Exercise care in those areas where the population is endangered and regulate through selective and fair chase hunting in areas where the population number is too high.
The collection was donated by Werner Trense to the hunting museum of Jagdschloss Granitz on the island of Rügen in Germany. We are grateful to the State Administration of Castles and Gardens of Land of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for loaning the collection to the CIC for three years with the possibility of prolongation.
